Resources for Those Affected By the Fire

  • For those who have sustained losses can apply for assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362). Here is a link to sign up for an orientation by the Pepperdine University School of Law about the basics of applying for aid through FEMA.
  • Bright Harbor is an agency that helps families recover after a disaster. They can help to coordinate State and Federal relief, advocate with your insurance provider, and provide a range of other support and benefits.

  • Property Tax Relief: Anyone who incurs more than $10,000 worth of damage can file a property tax appeal using the link below, even if your house was not destroyed. And, if your home sustained more than $10k of damage, you can appeal for property tax relief.

  • Tax relief: Estimated state income tax payments that are due this week on January 15 have been postponed, penalty-free, until October 15, 2025. www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-california-wildfire-victims-qualify-for-tax-relief-various-deadlines-postponed-to-oct-15
  • California Disaster Assistance Program (CDAP): Offers financial assistance for victims of disasters, including home repairs and rebuilding efforts.

  • Jewish Free Loan Association: Zero-interest and zero-fee loans of up to $15,000 are available for fire evacuees through the Jewish Free Loan Association. You do not need to be Jewish to apply for a loan.

  • Vital Records: LA County residents directly impacted by fires can request property and vital records (i.e., birth, death, marriage) free of charge to help with recovery efforts. Call 800-201-8999 (Option 1 followed by Option 2) or Email [email protected].
  • Notary and birth certificate replacement: For notary services and assistance with birth certificate replacement, please contact Melissa Sawyer at [email protected].

  • The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles has gathered supplies (clothing, soaps, blankets, etc.). These items are currently at The Gooden School in Sierra Madre. Please contact Suset Chaney, [email protected], to coordinate a pick-up or drop-off.
